Rome arrival

The flight from DC to Rome was 8 hours of uneventfulness! I tried to sleep and got maybe 60 minutes in. I also watched two movies and had a decent meal. One of the other teachers I'm traveling with had a former student as our Agent for Boarding Passes and he decided to upgrade his seat and 2 others in our group to Business Class. He picked the closest 2 next to him and that included me. That means I got even more leg room and some other perks. He also was kind enough to upgrade us for the return flight home from Brussels!

Dinner on the flight!

After arriving at our Hotel, we crammed as much sight seeing we could into our first day in Rome. We have a pretty tight schedule, but this first day was our only Free day. I went with some other teachers and we went to Vatican City, the Colosseum, Palantine Hill, and the Forum.

It was a great first day! The temperature was in the 90's, so drinking water was a must! Tomorrow we are on the Abbey at Monte Cassino.
